6. Okavango Delta (Botswana)
The 1300 km long Okavango River is one of the few rivers that does not run into an ocean or a sea... Its source is in Angola and it then flow alongside the border of the Caprivi region in Namibia before crossing the boarder to Botswana where it is literally swallowed up by the Kalahari sands.
This labyrinth of lagoons and channels with its myriad of small islands dotted with palm trees is best explored in a Mokoro (canoe), weaving your way through reeds, papyrus and water lilies.
